Did you plan this disappearance in pellets
of frozen rain exploding you
into a million rainbows?
The tarmac curdled, the street lights shivered,
the hail blazed past my eyes, blinded me, pierced
through my powerless hands and held me down.
No last words could be heard in the storm,
none, it seemed, were even uttered. It was indeed
a disappearance well carried out.
Now I’m drinking liquid sun rays
and it’s looking like another distraught day,
they taste of mint and citrus and heartbroken smiles.
I cannot remember how I felt before these clouds
hit the ground and blew dust all over.
Through the blazing particles it’s been dawning on me –
this city’s lost it all and means something no more.
Every time you post a poem, I get really excited.
