Halo Of Pendor

For the past weeks, I have desperately been skimming through my iTunes library, looking for a song to go with my current mood. I couldn’t find any, which is quite scary as I have every genre you could possibly think of – Jazz, Rock, Punk, Trance, Avant Garde, Alternativ, Indie, Electronica, HipHop, Postrock, Bass’n Drum, Classic, Pop, … you name it. So I decided to put my iPod on shuffle instead, and, who’d have thought, I got lucky! I couldn’t even remember I had songs from that band (it’s actually just one guy, Daniel Öhman) in my library, although if I’m not mistaken I did play one of his songs in the Crumble show on Radio Ara about bands from the Nordic countries, Behala 47 Vulcan Kranbau about plattenbaus and social decline (I think it’s about Christiane F., but I’m not too sure).

He’s from Göteborg (that’s on the west coast of Sweden) and his music is absolutely amazing. I’d love to describe it, but I don’t know how. It’s sort of indie electronica, but then again it’s completely different from any other indie electronica I’ve heard so far. And the lyrics are actually meaningful. The songs are comforting yet also disturbing at times, they really get under your skin. There’s nothing I could compare it to, which is probably why it’s the only music in my library that I can listen to right now and feel alright.

If you don’t know him yet, check out his MySpace page, where you can listen to some of the songs. My personal favourites are Panic Love and the afore mentioned Behala 47 Vulcan Kranbau.

Unfortunately, you can’t buy the music anywhere, but most of the songs are available as a free download on the MySpace page. Ohman himself apparently isn’t too sure whether there’ll ever be a real album – it would be a real shame if he never produced one. I love this music.

  1. Interessante Musek-Tipp. Dat mam ‘free download’ ass awer net sou fräi wéi ech mer et virstellen: “You must be logged in to download this song.”

Muss ech mer lo dat selwecht undinn wéi de Chris?

  2. Ech kann der se mailen / online setzen wanns de wells.

Lo wou ech den Text grad nach eng Kéier iwwerflunn hunn froen ech mech virun allem, wisou ech fir d’Frecken net op “Lo-Fi” komm sinn. Deem kenn d’Musék wuel am nohsten…

  5. Hey there,
I just found your blog and I got very flattered by your words about my music. Thank you so much.
I am pretty sure there will be an album, but I am not sure where to find the time.

    Kind regards
    Daniel

You’re welcome. I really love your music. It would be awesome if you could find the time to record an album!
